This was one of our another trip which we planned to do with a zero plan. When we left Colombo all we knew was its just a 2 day trip.

Ampara & Trincomalee in five days
It was December holidays again we decided to have a family trip and we opted to cover part of the East this time. On a Friday I made some calls to two friends at Ampara and Trinco and got 2 hotels booked. This was intended to be a road trip with time to rest in between. |
Wilpattu after Rains | |
This is a quick report with few tips to unseasoned travellers to Wilpattu National Park. 15th Friday was a holiday and some of our friends gathered as usual in the afternoon and the chat turned in to a trip planning session and was thinking of going to Wilpattu early next morning with the intention of being at the entrance by 6 AM. One of the guys wanted to leave on the same day and the discussion turned in to leaving in the evening on the same day. |
Two Millennia in 5 days ( Anuradhapura – Polonnaruwa kingdoms)
I had a booking of 3 nights at Anuradhapura for a different purpose but it was suddenly cancelled. Since all plans has been made to be out of Colombo, we decided to make a best of it and take a long vacation especially for kids. Since most of the places visited are common, this report will be more of a photo journey with little text. |
A Three Day Trip without a Destination
We started out at 4 AM on day 1 and move towards Ratnapura on Horana Road. On the way we schemed to move towards Ampara and may be towards Trinco later on. We took a quick breakfast from a small wayside shop on the Horana road at about 6. We had passed Maha Saman Devalaya at Ratnapura so many times but never stopped since we always have been running with a another destination in mind. It was 6.45AM when we reached the Ratnapura Maha Saman Devalaya and there was almost no people there. |
