Day1:
Started our journey from kaduwela at around 6.30am only stopping for breakfast at kuruwita. It was time to get our cameras out for the first time at the first attraction for the day being surathalie ella.
We continued our journey towards Haputale when the mist started to come in.
After having lunch at Welimada we proceeded towards Bomburu ella. The condition of the road from Welimada to Bomburu ella was not in a good state.. It took us about 1 hour to travel the approx. distance of 15km from welimada but it was definitely worthwhile since one of the most beautiful waterfalls that I have seen was awaiting us in its’ magnificent splendor…
When it started to rain only did we thought of leaving this beauty behind since we had to get to ohiya. It was an eventful drive through the dense mist that covered the area after Boralanda.
Day 2:
Scenery at Ohiya
Our day 2 plan was to climb Kirigalpoththa at Horton plains. It was gloomy and overcast without much opportunity for photographs at the top.
Day 3:
After breakfast we bid farewell to Ohiya and was back in Horton plains to climb Thotupola mountain.
The weather changed suddenly again as we started climbing as the mist started to set in ruining our chances of another fantastic opportunity.
After thotupola it was time to start our final leg of the journey being Horton plains-Dayagama trail.
After having reached the tea estate we couldn’t find transport to get to our pick up point being Dayagama town(bazaar as commonly known) and was required to walk another good 5-8km through the estate.
Hope you will enjoy this report as much as we did traveling!
