Wife’s first Pilgrimage of Sripada in the off-season

This is the first time that my wife visited peak wilderness for the pilgrimage of holy foot-print. We had this on a poya day as the Uda Maluwa is open on poya days. We headed to Hatton by night mail the previous day and we have arranged a van to pick up us from there and to Nallathanniya for Rs.3,500/-. We started our hike in the dawn and slowly we were able to reach the summit at 12 noon and fortunately, the Uda Maluwa was open for worship.

Scenic hike to Bambugala via Narangamuwa

Bambugala is a small tower type peak situated near to the Narangamuwa Lakegala/ Komalewegala. The hike should start from Narangamuwa and offline GPS is needed to find the exact locations without following any wrong directions. It is not far from the Narangamuwa but we can follow the usual pathway which is from Narangamuwa village to Komalewegala via Uyangomuwa.

Bypassing Uyangomuwa we can get entered to the left side forest where the Rehessa located. And after that, we can directly go to the Bambugala plains as we can see the Bambugala at Rehessa. Bambugala plain has a small slope and we can follow the ridge of the plain up to the Bambugala peak. The tallest peak looks like a Cylinder which is called in Sinhala as “Bambu”

Be more careful once you step into the summit of the peak as it has a very limited area to climb. It is not suitable to climb this during a heavy windy season as if something got wrong you will have died.

Camping on Kabaragala Mountain (1506m)-The highest of Dolosbage Range

Kabaragala (1506m) is the highest point of Dolosbage range and one of a popular camp sites among travellers. This is my story on Kabaragala camping.

Off season on Erathna route after the Covid-19

After the Covid-19 pandemic situation, we had our first journey to Sripada on Erathna route especially to check about the status of the name boards and dust bins which we were placed in December 2019 during our Cleaning project. We informed to PHI Kuruwita and had this hike without informing anyone as the offseason hike is not yet started at that time.

Uda Radella (2143m) to Great Western (2215m), conquering two giants

We have planned a journey for covering 5 main giants in Nuwaraeliya in 3 days. And we were able to conquer Mahakudugala (2101m), Single Tree (2105m) and Kikiliyamana (2242) on the first day and we spend the night near the entrance of Uda Radella farm and on the second day, we conquer Uda Radella (2143m) and Great Western (2215m) successfully.

Since Madusanka lives in Nuwaraeliya, he was able to take the oral permission to enter the Uda Radella farm and we found a kind person who works there and he told us some details about this forest and the leopards. And he switched off the electric fence and we crossed it and headed to Great Western through a giant forest. We had a GPS route and we followed it always and able to reach the Great Western viewpoint without any difficulty.

The incomplete destination nearby Sudugala Mountain

Sudugala Mountain was a dream of me since we did our Duwili Falls hike. Then we planned this hike with a group of my friends and we contacted Ekanayake uncle as our guide. He promised us to take to the top of the Sudugala mountain but unfortunately, when we came to the Sudugala Bungalow he said that he was not been there in his lifetime. Then we had to climb that mountain by using GPS but since he didn’t tell us this issue I even not pre-downloaded the google maps of this range.

The beginning of Sobasiri Team, Seven Falls Expedition

This the beginning of the SOBASIRI TEAM which is the combination of Me, Akila, and Malith, and later we welcomed Nirosh and Madusanka in 2014. This is not my very first adventure journey as I have started my adventure life in 2008 by visiting waterfalls around Kalutara area with my home town friend Jerom.

Magnificent 360° scenery at Kallebokka Viewpoint

Kallebokka 3600 viewpoint (height: 1,175m) became a trending destination after it was promoted by a certain TV programme. The summit is located right on the border of Matale and Kandy districts and shares the same ridge that forms Hathale min-worlds end and Hunnasgiriya mountain. The said ridge extends to the north and joins with western massif of Knuckles.

On a clear day, visitors can observe Central Highlands, Kandy City, Sembuwatte lake and Knuckles Mountains.

Adventure around Upper Mannakethi Falls

I did my first visit to Mannakethi Falls in 2012 and later I have visited it for only 1 time up to 2016. But in 2016, I had to visit it for more than 12 times and mainly with my HSBC staff members. However, I took only one hike to publish this post as this shows the wooden staircase which is not available now.

Once you go to the top of Mannakethi Falls, just have to walk upward of the stream. There are many natural adventure activities in this place as sliding, jumping, and swimming too. But always be careful when walking on the slippery rocks and beware about flash floods during rainy days.

Relaxed hike to Dothalugala Nature Trail & Rathna Falls

Dothalugala is a famous destination in Knuckles as the legal campsite also located over there. We went through the Dothalugala nature trail and few of us were going out of the trail for a few minutes to reach the summit of Dothalugala mountain which is height about 1574m. After we complete our trail we headed to Rathna falls and later on we explored Kaluwa Watunu Falls in the latter part of the evening.

One of the longest hikes in Sri Lanka (Lebonan Estate to Rambukoluwa via KMP Wadiya , Thunhisgala and Duwili Eli)

Again here , it is me with another trip report . In this story again Aluva (Aluvihare) , my friend plays the major role. Aluva and me always needed to hike Thunhisgala down since we covered beautiful Kotaganga Cascades and Alugal-Lena during our last visit to knuckles mountain range.

Camping at Pallan Hela (පල්ලන්හෙල) / Hindagala (1068ft) and visit to Inginiyagala (ඉගිණියාගල) (1035ft)

Pallan Hela(1068ft) and Inginiyagala (1035ft) are two rocks situated closer to Senanayaka Samudraya at Ampara. This is our camping trip to Pallan Hela and day visit to Inginiyagala.
