Nikawatawana(නිකවටවන) 420m scenic peak..

Last year when we were at Wewala wewa we noted this lovely twin peak mountain which was also seen from the banks of Kandalama tank.

Angamedilla A Lesser Know National Park

This July (post COVID19 era) we went to Girithale and on our Girithale visit we got a chance to explore Angammedilla park which is not a popular tourist destination.

First hike after the CORONA break – Talpattekanda 375M

Talapattekanda is another monadnock situated close to Madagalla of Kurunegala. Since it had been few months from our last hike we decided to give this 300m mountain a go.

Journey to Kebiliththa Dewalaya

Kebiliththa / Maha Siyambalawa Dewalaya is one of the sacred place of Katharagama Dewiyo situated in Yala forest.

Dhanigala / Alien Mountain at Aralaganwila

Dhanigala mountain is actually an exploration by Travel with Chathura program as they captured an amazing circular photo of this unique shaped mountain. Hence I wanted to climb this mountain before get it rush by unethical travelers. However, I and few of my friends were able to conquer Dhanigala mountain and explore some more beauty than we saw on Chathura’s video.

Visit to Pathahawatte Raja Maha Viharaya

The temple is now known as Sri Pushkararama Rajamaha Viharaya at Pathahawatte, Kothalawela is certainly an important piece of Raigampura Heritage – and not just for its religious significance.

Reachable by taking the right turn at ‘Kotalawela junction’ – near the 11th-kilometer post on Panadura-Horana Road, the entire land of the temple of 12 Hectares (5 acres), an archeological reserve since 1970, is surrounded by a huge wall of kabook. It is 2 meters wide and the height varies between 2 -3 meters. Given the depth of the foundation, the original height could have been easily twice of that. This wall dates back to either Kotte or Gampola period.

Visit to Maligathenna Rajamaha Viharaya

The Maligatenna temple, Varana, and the Gal Vihara at Attanagalla were three historic places of Buddhist interest that we visited not long ago.

Not far from Colombo, about two miles from the Tihariya junction turning to the right, we came to Maligatenna rock cave temple, our first destination. We could see a small dagaba, right on top of a high mountain, shining white amidst the green foliage, set against a clear blue sky.

Book Donation with AAT Sri Lanka at Galpitiya

Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) while being engaged in taking accounting education to grass root levels of the country, experienced a pleasant surprise in extending its humane hands to a worthy cause under the auspices of its first CSR project on the theme “AAT Samaja Mehewara (Social Mission)” through the intervention of social media. It happened as a result of responses by a Facebook group in reply to a suggestion published by the AAT Sri Lanka official Facebook page offering support to rural schools.

One of the longest hikes in Sri Lanka (Lebonan Estate to Rambukoluwa via KMP Wadiya , Thunhisgala and Duwili Eli)

Again here , it is me with another trip report . In this story again Aluva (Aluvihare) , my friend plays the major role. Aluva and me always needed to hike Thunhisgala down since we covered beautiful Kotaganga Cascades and Alugal-Lena during our last visit to knuckles mountain range.

Solo ride from Ja-Ela to Dambulla

There are many mountains situated around the Kurunegala – Dambulla main road and I’m still unable to climb most of them due to the lack of free time and availability. However, I had to visit one of my office friend’s function and I wanted to go there on my motorbike. Since I had enough time to explore the beauties around the road I used that time to explore some mountains over the route and I visited those areas to grab details for future hikes with my friends.

Visit Manelwatte Temple

Manelwatta Temple is a Buddist Temple constructed in Gampaha District, very close to ancient Kelaniya Viharaya. Temple is situated in a 16ha land with a calm and quiet environment amidst it’s close proximity to Colombo. Since most patronages to the Temple being from East Asian countries it looks like a Mahayana Temple from an East Asian Country. This location is very famous for photoshoots due to its iconic architecture. The environment maintained with its lakes and well-kept lawns is very refreshing and is an ideal location to relax in Colombo. I and my wife went to this temple in 2013 to see the nature and the environment over there.
