Family Trip to Miyunu Falls

The 60-meter Miyunu Ella waterfall is one of the two large waterfalls lying in the Kukulugala Forest (KF) is situated within the Western boundary of the Ratnapura district, Sabaragamuwa Province; and is located 15 km away from Bulathsinhala town. This forest ecosystem, which covers an area of 6000 acres within the Ayagama secretariat division, can be categorized as a low land evergreen rain forest. The dominant tree species are Dipterocarpus sp., Mesua sp., Doona sp., Schumacheria castaneifolia, Artocarpus Nobilis, Calophyllum inophyllum, Mangifera zeylanica, Humboldtia laurifolia, Oncosperma fasciculatum and Canarium zeylanicum species. Kukulugala mountain, also known as “Horanae Kanda (හොරණෑ කන්ද)” in Sinhala, is 705m above sea level.

Visit to Maligathenna Rajamaha Viharaya

The Maligatenna temple, Varana, and the Gal Vihara at Attanagalla were three historic places of Buddhist interest that we visited not long ago.

Not far from Colombo, about two miles from the Tihariya junction turning to the right, we came to Maligatenna rock cave temple, our first destination. We could see a small dagaba, right on top of a high mountain, shining white amidst the green foliage, set against a clear blue sky.

Book Donation with AAT Sri Lanka at Galpitiya

Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT Sri Lanka) while being engaged in taking accounting education to grass root levels of the country, experienced a pleasant surprise in extending its humane hands to a worthy cause under the auspices of its first CSR project on the theme “AAT Samaja Mehewara (Social Mission)” through the intervention of social media. It happened as a result of responses by a Facebook group in reply to a suggestion published by the AAT Sri Lanka official Facebook page offering support to rural schools.

One of the longest hikes in Sri Lanka (Lebonan Estate to Rambukoluwa via KMP Wadiya , Thunhisgala and Duwili Eli)

Again here , it is me with another trip report . In this story again Aluva (Aluvihare) , my friend plays the major role. Aluva and me always needed to hike Thunhisgala down since we covered beautiful Kotaganga Cascades and Alugal-Lena during our last visit to knuckles mountain range.

Perattasi Mountain Hike (2130m)

When I searching for the mountains above 2000m I found this beauty around Chariot Path which is nearly height for more than 2100m. After postponing for about 3-4 times I got prepared this hike with my brother in law and Sajith. We left from Ja-Ela at 12 midnight and met Sajith at Yakkala about 12.30 am and we left to Pussellawa. We came to Pussellawa around 4 am and slept for 1 hour until the sunshine. It was nearly a 2 hr sleep and we started our journey to Perattasi through that gravel road and we took about 2 hr to reach Perattasi old hospital.

Solo ride from Ja-Ela to Dambulla

There are many mountains situated around the Kurunegala – Dambulla main road and I’m still unable to climb most of them due to the lack of free time and availability. However, I had to visit one of my office friend’s function and I wanted to go there on my motorbike. Since I had enough time to explore the beauties around the road I used that time to explore some mountains over the route and I visited those areas to grab details for future hikes with my friends.

Beauties of Ingiriya

Roaming around Ingiriya after monsoon rain was a fruitful journey as I was able to find number of cascades. This a summary of waterfalls situated around Ingiriya.

Exploring hidden Caves at Elle Kanda (වනහාමිගේ ගල්ගුහා)

Land Marks of Misty Nuwera Eliya Part-2

Nuwera Eliya has number of places to visit though many visitors go to common places. This is another set of places around Nuwera Eliya.

Galagama Falls via Landuyaya Old Horse Track

This is a waterfall where we need to have a hard hike throughout the day. Even though you come from the usual Nagrak roadside it is more difficult for you to reach up to the turning bend near to the Nagrak Bungalow. Ihala Galagama/ Landuyaya road is the road to Hawagala Mountain.

Scenic Drive at Southern Province

We had a relaxing drive to the southern province as we received an invitation from our friend to visit his village as well as we need to have a drive to Matara via the Southern Expressway. Since my other members didn’t see Andahelena Fall I marked it at the first thing on our trip. I visited Andahelena Falls in May, 2013 while on a Funeral of an office mate’s cousin. However, we were able to visit Madol Duwa, Martin Wickremasinghe House, and the Museum and finally stopped at Dondra Light House which is closed to that friend’s home.
