අලි පිරුණු හෙනන්නේගල (Henannegala)

In 2013 for the first time I visited Maduru oya park I was lucky to visit Henannegala cave temple and I was fascinated with its appearance. I wondered if I could climb it but there were few restrictions like the archeology site been a part of the temple and the national park.

Kumana…..other than bird watching.

Kumana National Park is famous for bird watching but there are enough things to do. This is our two days story at Kumana around Kirigal Bay bungalow.

A day spent at dried Habarana Lake and Minneriya Park

This was the first official trip I had after joining. This was to Habarana Village by Cinnamon for 3 days and we have enjoyed a lot and I and two of my friends had a small adventure on massive Habarana lake as it was fully dried. We walk around the lake and crossed it and again walked for nearly 2Km on the river to explore the atmosphere to get an understanding of the status of a dried lake.

Angamedilla A Lesser Know National Park

This July (post COVID19 era) we went to Girithale and on our Girithale visit we got a chance to explore Angammedilla park which is not a popular tourist destination.

Journey to Kebiliththa Dewalaya

Kebiliththa / Maha Siyambalawa Dewalaya is one of the sacred place of Katharagama Dewiyo situated in Yala forest.

An unforgettable train journey to Nuwaraeliya

This was an unforgettable journey for me and my wife as we spend this vacation with our little princess. We planned this for 5 days by locating Nuwaraeliya and we rented a house via contact of our friend Madusanka. And the most wanted experience is the train journey at Expo Rail and Rajadhani Express. Hence we booked Expo Rail to reach Nanuoya and on our return journey, we booked Rajadhani Express. Unfortunately, this luxury train service is not functioning now.

A Quick visit to Beddagana Wetland Park

Beddagana Wetland Park in Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte is one of the newest attractions close to Colombo which was opened in 2016 close to Colombo. The park covers 18 hectares of wetland surrounding Diyawanna Oya lake which is part of the much larger Diyawanna Oya flood plains Wildlife Sanctuary declared by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in 1985. The park was created as a recreation facility that helps with flood control, provides a refuge for flora and fauna, and moderates the temperature of the immediate surroundings.

Bomburu Fall / Ravan Fall and Hakgala Garden

We had a train journey to Nuwaraeliya for meet a special person of our member. Since Madusanka is there, we thought to visit Ravan Fall which couldn’t see on our previous journey. So, we took Madusanka’s car and driven to Perawela to see the Bomburu Bride as we cannot pass her without visiting and after that we went to Ravan fall and spend sometime over there.

After that we went to Hakgala botanical garden we I have been there for the last time on 2002. Since we had enough time to roaming around Nuwaraeliya we walked along the paths and had a silent exploration about a path to climb Hakgala Mountain. Because Hakgala is a high sensitive forest reserve and as we heard on one can climb this giant mountain due to this restrictions. However we couldn’t find any secret path or even any clue about climbing this mountain but we were able to achieve this mountain range in October 2018 successfully. But at that time I and Malith are only able to do this secret hike and still we didn’t published any details about that hike as we are not able to disclose the methods we followed.

Thotupola Kanda Hike (2360m)

Totapolakanda (also Thotupolakanda or Thotupola Kanda), is the third highest mountain in Sri Lanka situated in Nuwara Eliya district 2,359.46 m (7,733 ft) above mean sea level. The mountain is located within the Horton Plains National Park. A trail to the top of the mountain, about two kilometers long, starts a few metres away from the Pattipola entrance to the Horton Plains National Park. Most parts of the mountain surface are covered with shrubs adapted to the cool and windy climate of Horton Plains National Park. Strobilanthes, Osbeckia and Rhodomyrtus species grown as shrubs are common among them.

Travel with Wife to Horton Plains

Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. This plateau at an altitude of 2,100–2,300 metres (6,900–7,500 ft) is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. This region was designated a national park in 1988. It is also a popular tourist destination and is situated 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ohiya, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the world-famous Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch and 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Nuwara Eliya.
