Devil’s Staircase tour
As per my experience, Devil’s Staircase road is the most hardest, dangerous and beautiful road in Sri Lanka. I knew about this on 2012 and I was lucky to visit there at the beginning of 2013. |
Piduruthalagala Summit by Motor Bicycles
This trip was happened in January 2013. I wanted to go the highest mountain in Sri Lanka and at that time I knew that is not allowed due to high security reasons. However I directly called Ministry of Defense office and explain them about my requirement. |
Waving water level at Galboda Fall
Galboda is not a famous railway station for many of Sri Lankans. There are some more waterfalls around this area such as Kadiyanlena fall etc. The most suitable vehicle is the Train, because the road after the RS is very bad and worst. We went to the Galboda by bikes and found the small village after having rough rides among the unknown forest patch. A man told us a shortcut from the forest but it is actually a shortcut for hiking. |
Crying waterfall “අඬාහැලෙන ඇල්ල”
Andahelena waterfall is situated in Southern province near Elpitiya city. There is a temple on this road and your vehicles can be parked over there. The hike is about 1km along the forest patch. |
බිංගෙවල් දාසයක් යටින් ඉදල්ගස්හින්නට (Through 16 tunnels to Idalgashinna)
Riding towards Horton Plains by Bicycle (Kirigalpotta hike returned via, Thalawakele)
Riding bicycles on those hilly roads were somewhat difficult, but it was a life time experience for us. Climatic condition in Nuwara Eliya during December and January is cold and dry. Therefore, it is better to arrange your journey during December. |
Bicycle Touring – The Coastal Road to Jaffna (503.66Km)
Back in October of 2011 I had this bright idea of cycling to Jaffna. The easiest way of doing this was to travel on the A9, but then again that would be so boring and the whole point of riding to Jaffna was not complete the journey from point A to point B but to enjoy journey and experience the solitude and the care free way of travel. The only road that meets my expectations is the Costal road; this road hugs the western coast line of Sri lank all the way to Jaffna!! |
Lesser known historical places around Mahiyangana – Bibile
This was a journey I did more than a year ago and my focus was on some places close to Mahiyangana and Bibile – Medagama. On an overcast day I took a bus towards Padiyathalawa from Bibile and again took a bus towards Mahiyanganaya. Just before Wewatta temple there was a road to the left with Uva province tourism notice board directing towards Murungagala Archaeology site. |
Memorable trip to world’s end
We, my self-my wife and two kids, started from Kandy at about 7 in the morning. Journey to Nuwara Eliya was eventless through beautiful mountains and tea estates. We reached Nuwara Eliya at about 10 in the morning. On the way to Horton Plains was also through beautiful farms. |
Day hike to Alagalla | |
So the hike plan begins @ office as usual. I was out of office for 1.5 months on training and the team had planned a trip to Alagalla. People plan the trip and invite us, and finally it is only me & Pasindu who do the hike while the ones who planned it are dropped off which happens most of the time. So what we say to them is, “we will be leaving in this train @ this time, if you are coming, please come on time for the train” |
