Tips, Notes and Special remarks
  • As always protect the nature. Feel it but don’t steal it..because we’ve seen couple of places where people have done wrong around the waterfall..( On your way to the waterfall you may see some of those )
  • Reaching the waterfall is not difficult but it is strongly recommended not to bathe near the waterfall.
  • Elevation is around 950m

  • Kadienlena waterfall – Kataboola estate- (Nawalapitiya – Thalawakele) B317

We started our journey from Laxapana where we faced a deadly incident( Laxapana trip will be reported as a separate article. It’s better to have a look at it because it describes some precautions which you need to be aware of, but sadly we’ve forgotten). After recovering from that incident we headed to kadi Ella, a waterfall which is located in Kadienlena.

The waterfall acts as a divider between two districts, kandy and Nuwaraeliya..It’s easy to locate since it’s on the way to Thalawakele which is better known as the B317 route.

The waterfall consists of two parts. We tried to reach the bottom of the upper waterfall but couldn’t find an easy way. Although we think it’s not impossible if someone can take a challenge. As we figured out, if someone wants reach the top,the easiest way would be to take the path through the tea estate, but ofcourse the latter part is not clear. you’ll have to use your own methods in order to achieve the objective.

Public transport is available but not sure after 6pm. So it’s better to get back to the nearest town where you can easily find some lodging before it is too late.

You can buy some snacks from Kadienlena town..and also there is a western union branch there..!! :-)

Myself..enjoying the cool climate.

We did not forget to have a walk through the tea estate and have a chat with the locals..they said that the other part of the mountain where the waterfall is situated is Galboda area..We abandoned our plan to get there through the wild due to the time factor and also since we hadn’t prepared well for a such a journey..!! and also the deadly experience we faced just a couple of days ago when we were at 7 virgins..!!
