I had a dream to visit so called world’s end from the childhood as to see whether it was truly a world’s end and also had some fantacies about that place. Sad to say…..I lost all those wonderful fantacies after visiting that place. Anyway it was a great and memorable trip.
We, my self-my wife and two kids, started from Kandy at about 7 in the morning. Journey to Nuwara Eliya was eventless through beautiful mountains and tea estates. We reached Nuwara Eliya at about 10 in the morning. On the way to Horton Plains was also through beautiful farms.
Road from Pattipola to Horton Plains is not that wide. You have to be very careful while driving and use the 1st gear to drive.
When we entered to the entrance of the park I felt like entering to a different world. It was dark and cool and it was an experience I could not explain. But I have to say the charges are relatively high as there is almost no any facility inside the park.
When we reached Baker’s fall we were fed up. But that fall gave us relaxation and some strength. I have to say if you are willing to go to world’s end Do it before you are old.
Walking on the plains gave the feeling of walking on grasslands mentioned in stories.
When we reached the top it was around 3pm. Fortunately there was no mist or clouds. You can even see the shadow of the mountain. After 10-15 minutes all the scene was covered with clouds for sometime. Then it again got cleared. It was really a worth to see that. One moment it was there…then there was nothing except mist.
I have to tell you, You should carry adequate amount of water. I must really appreciate my two kids for their endurance even without water.
When we got back to parking area it was around 5pm. We were very thirsty and tired.
When we were coming back the mist was very dense….the road was very down sloping….you can travel >20km/h in 1st gear without accelerating on that bendy road. So be really careful and use a good vehicle with a capable driver.
