  • Memories of Jungle Village

Last week end I had opportunity to spend two days in tiny jungle hamlet in foot of the Knuckles Mountain Range. Here is that memorable story.

We leave Kandy at 11.00 a.m. in the morning and reached our destination after four hour journey and our crew was 08.

The camp site is located at edge of the village bordering to the river. Other bank of the river is belongs to Knuckles Conservation Forest and dense forest spreads as far as eye can see. After having dinner at my companions’ house we reached our camp site and spend night at there.

My companion had prepared our breakfast in his chana land and we have taken it there. It was a large chana land and 08 families are cultivated different types of crops there. Among these Eringu (Corn) & “Kurakkan” (Ragi) are prominent crops.

It was fantastic & memorable experience for all of us. Since all have experienced and feel simple life style of traditional Sri Lankan village away from busy city life.
