Most of us think that if we need to see wildlife and other interesting sceneries we must go away from our area. But if you are patient enough to explore your own garden for few minutes per day you will be amazed how much of beautiful creatures are found around you. Here are my own experiences. All of these were captured around my garden in Hikkaduwa and around. Unfortunately as I’m using a humble camera I missed most of the photographic moments of birds.
Birds visiting my garden
A stranger visited our neighbor’s garden one day. It was a giant python. All the people gathered and captured this uninvited guest and released it into a woody area situated few kilometers away.
I found butterflies in my garden in abundance. But it was quite difficult task to take pictures of butterflies as they move very quickly. Photographing butterflies develops patience in my life
One evening I found a rare civet cat that was chased by a herd of dogs. It hid under logs in a corner of my garden and unable to move because it was covered by the gang of angry dogs. So I captured him very carefully and put it into a bucket. Then I called to my sister who is a lecturer of biology in university of Sabaragamuwa for an expert advice. She told me that these creatures are very active in the night and advised me to keep the creature until the dusk and release it into its natural habitat. I did as she said and I’m very happy that I could save the life of an endangered creature.
Thanks a lot for watching my report. And look forward to see your experience too.
