Hiking Kabaragala – The Highest Peak of Dolosbage (1506 M)

Kabragala is a mountain in the Dolaosbage mountain range. It has the highest summit point in the range. Hiking Kabaragala became one of my ‘must do’ hike after seeing the Nadegura Documentary and Ashan’s Report. We planned several times and couldn’t do the hike due to bad weather.

Regaining Lost Ground – Aranayaka…

I didn’t wanna turn around having come so close coz not being able to visit especially a waterfall going all the way is something that tastes bitter. It not only tastes bitter and it keeps nagging at me. Reluctantly, we decided to let Sheham go and Shareez and I walked up for another 1-1.5km along the road till we reached a sign board giving details about a Asupini Ella Village Project with half a dozen faces of politicians. The road forks into two here and you have to take the right turn that goes uphill.

Another 500m or so will take you to a stream that flows across the road. Pass this and you’ll come to a sharp right bend with a black wooden electricity pole on the left. On this about 6ft up is nailed a tiny board saying “To Ella” with an arrow. We were grateful for this and followed it. The path hasn’t been used recently, must be due to rain and was infested with leeches. We kept going uphill and Shareez who had had very little physical activities in this kind was ready to give up after a 1km or so.

Lakdasun Rangers on a Joint Venture – Bathalegala

The people who’ve been on either along the road or by train must have seen a gorgeous girlie from Kadugannawa towards Aranayake. She’s so unique and iconic; you simply can’t have missed seeing her. I’ve seen many people including myself, craning their necks out of the windows to get a better look at her.

Chasing Waterfalls (part 2) – Waterfalls of dedugala,Diyaangiri falls & Ahupini(Asupini) falls

We left delgoda at 5.30am and was experiencing rain for the next 1 ½ hours till we reached our first attraction of the day at Ampagala, Bulathkohupitiya being Suramba/Punahela ella. After waiting for about 10 minutes till the rain subsided we decided to get a closer look at the falls

One day trip to Aranayake, exploring the Nature & Heritage

One day trip to Aranayake, exposing to the nature & Heritage. Asupini ella (30m in height ) and Selawa temple were the main travel locations. Having nearly an hour of driving we stopped at Ambasevana restaurant just before Kegalle for the breakfast. We were at Mawanella in the next 40 minutes. Up to few kilometers passing Mawanella on the Aranayake road, we met the first barrier since the road was under construction. We were beaten by dust because our jeep was an open canopy one.
