Ending the Drought of Travelling – Tour de Waterfalls 20…
It’s an extremely rare occurrence since July 2012 that I’d stay without going anywhere for more than 3-4 weeks. However since 18 Oct until 15 Nov I spent all of my weekends feeling depressed beyond imagination with nowhere to go. It was like a living hell having to spend my time dreaming about the places and things I wanted to go and see. I was scared I’d actually go out of my mind and will have to get admitted to the hospital you-know-where. Finally Hasi became my savior when he managed to escape his busy schedule for a quick one-day tour. As he’s not been to Waterfalls of Colombo and it was so convenient, we decided to give it a go even though I’d been there once before. So we finally left, armed with umbrellas and raincoats, for Kaluaggala on the 15 Nov morning when the rains were falling cats and dogs. The sky was gloomy and charcoal grey with no sign of sunlight when we started our journey around 6.30am. |
When waterfalls of Colombo district are in full flow
I Picked Sri from Embuldeniya sharp at 5.00 am. and came to Godagama junction around 5.30 hoping my friend prince would come there by that time. And he came there at his royal time 6.30 and we moved along high level road and reached Meepe .From there we turned right at clock tower and reached Bope junction after few minutes |
Waterfalls of Colombo District – Pathetic side of the story
One of my intention of writing this report is to show you the heart breaking current states of the these precious waterfalls. There is nothing attractive in these pictures but you can compare the state of these waterfalls two years ago, with Ashan’s report and the pathetic state of same, today |

It was one of our spontaneous trips which we never had time to plan properly even! And guess what all the waterfalls were on the same bus route! Any how it was in our list to do’s! Three of us met at Puwakpitiya junction at around 8.30a.m. And had some breakfast and off we went! Luckily we got a bus that goes to Padukka via Thunmodara, so we got in to it and got off at Dambora(10Km away from Puwakpitiya) right near the waterfall! This 10 meter cascade is about 1Km away from Thunmodara bridge near Labugama reservoir and Labugam kanda(Highest mountain of Colombo district). |
