Waterfall hunting – Nilamba Oya
Nilambe is a popular place in our area due to the Natural beauty. Exploring this area was a long waited dream for me. Our School Gang initiated the idea of visting the area along Nilamba Oya. This trail was done at during the period of February 2011. |
Climbing Raxagala රාක්ශගල (1438m)
Raxagala is the second highest peak of Dolosbage range and having different names. Locals called it Kinihira (කිනිහිර), Paththini amma kanda (පත්තිනි අම්මා කන්ද), Wangedi molgas gala (වන්ගෙඩි මොල්ගස් ගල )1: 50000Map shows it as Stentry box east. The idea of climbing this unusual shaped mountain came into my mind when I climbed Kabaragala-higest peak of Dolosbage range. When I searched it, I found a nice article in Sri lankan travellers. It gave me a good guidance. |
One Day Trip to Pinnawala, Kandy and Ambuluwawa
We stopped at Wahalkada in Warakapola for breakfast. This turned out to be an excellent one. They serve buffet (a bit expensive – but once in a while on a day like this, it’s worth going for something like that) breakfast with a wide range of meals such as Egg Hoppers, String Hoppers, Rice and Curry, Rotii, etc… However, they serve Kenda which was one of the very best I’ve ever had. |
“I came, I saw, I conquered” – Highest peak of Dolosbage (Kabaragala 1506m)
Almost one week after the peacock hill adventure, it was time for another hike. Mount Kabaragala was an unknown mountain for me until one week back when I first saw it while I was on top of Monaragala. I had no idea about the geography and how to conquer it. Only few google images, survey departments map information and few photographs which I have taken few days back, were there for my aid. Kabaragala is unique in the sense it’s the tallest mountain peak of Dolosbage range and it has an almost flat terrain on top of it which makes you feel that you are walking in heaven. |
