I had the chance to hike the 1st two falls (1st three falls, according to my count) in April, 2014…… One can refer to my earlier report…….First a brief description of the seven falls…. As many might not hear about it…. But every single main fall in the complex is more than 20 meters in height…

This is an unknown hidden beauty found in Doloswala Kanda area few meters from foot path to Pitakele from Doloswala Kanda….. It is roughly 30 feets in height and has three main sections. Amount of water is less now a day as there is a diversion for mini hydro plant. The name “Kamani” which some people in Doloswala unheard of given after a 16 year old girl committed suicide by jumping from the top of the fall few years back.

Waterfall hunting in Rathnapura-Kalawana road

Although I describe all these waterfalls under Rathnapura-Kalawana road, they are situated some distance away from the main road except Rajanawa Falls. Road condition of Rathnapura-Kalawana road is good following constructions. But road conditions are not good in some byroads.

Seven waterfalls ( Ali Hatha) of Delwala-Nivithigala

After reaching Uda-delwala, there is a gravel road to right as one pass the temple of Uda-delwala. This road can only be managed by a 4wd vehicle or by a three wheeler. Otherwise one has to walk 1 km to reach the starting point of the hike. We were lucky as one boy volunteered to guide us. Otherwise we might have spent hours looking for the waterfall as some places path was not clear.

In search of Ballamala Ella

We started our journey from Kahawa at about 6.00am. Normally if we need to go to Ratnapura we used to go to Panadura and head to Ratnapura. But we thought to go our journey through the country then I found the way using the road map published by the dept. of survey. We turn from Kahawa junction and refueled our bike at Meetiyagoda. Then we reached to Elpitiya and about 7.15am were able to reach Pelawatta. There is a road from Pelawatta to Baduraliya.
