Wife’s first Pilgrimage of Sripada in the off-season

This is the first time that my wife visited peak wilderness for the pilgrimage of holy foot-print. We had this on a poya day as the Uda Maluwa is open on poya days. We headed to Hatton by night mail the previous day and we have arranged a van to pick up us from there and to Nallathanniya for Rs.3,500/-. We started our hike in the dawn and slowly we were able to reach the summit at 12 noon and fortunately, the Uda Maluwa was open for worship.

අවාරේ සිරිපා කරුණාව (Off season hike to Sripade)

Battulu oya trail to Adam’s peak

In 2013 we got together and did the Dehena kanda trail to Siripade. And on our way we came across a location called Paradise which is seethagangula of Dehenakanda trail. The river which we crossed was Battulu oya which flows by Fishing hut of Moray estate before ending its journey at Maussakele reservoir.

Camping at Gawarawila plains

Studying the map was my childhood hobby. As soon as I returned from school every day, I used to open the World Atlas Map book and travelled around the world in my imaginations. It is still my hobby but the medium has changed to technology, a.k.a Google Maps. A couple of years ago, when I was looking for trails to Adam’s peak on Google maps, I noticed a place like Horton Plains on the peak Wilderness Sanctuary. It looked nearly impossible to access through the ground on Google Maps due to sudden elevation. Though I was eager to find out more about it, I couldn’t find a single thing for years.
