Alagalla mountain hike (1140m)

When we traveled to Alagalla, we should turn left to Poththapitiya road where the turning point is at before the Kadugannawa RS. This road is little bit worst. From Poththapitiya town there will be a Boo tree at left side with adjoin road.

The Hike in Valentine day-Alagalla (1148m)

Alagalla is a popular peak among travellers due to it’s easily accessibility. This is my second visit to Alagalla.

Hiking Alagalla to Poojagala

Last year (2015) our team did a hike to Alagalla with a overnight camping. We were able to hike only a part of the Alagalla mountain range. So we decided to hike this mountain another day with a proper plan. Some days later I saw a video on youtube on ‘Alagalla’ which is a documentary done by ITN TV Channel. This gave me some idea about entire Alagalla range.

Hike to Balumgala and visit to nearby Attractions

This is the Rock located at the Kadugannawa Gap. The Rock is clearly visible from the Pahala Kadugannawa General viewing point.

15-Feb, Alagalla (1148m) day hike!

A much awaited trip! Me and my good old hiking buddy Murtaza (matz), with whom I went to Great Western a couple of years back, were eagerly looking forward for this hike since a long time. But since the both of us were not able to find time this topic was dragging on and on endlessly until the last weekend, Sunday the 15th of Feb.

Adventurous Trip to Alagalla & Dekinda Falls

After completing the check list took some valuable time of us. As we were too late, we took 2 three wheelers to go Pilimathalawa. We reached there at around 2:15pm. We bought some required item from the town and waited for the Poththapitiya bus. It took a long time to get a bus and we decided to got to the destination by three wheelers. (500/- per three wheeler). We reached the Poththapitiya town by 3.30pm

Day hike to Alagalla

So the hike plan begins @ office as usual. I was out of office for 1.5 months on training and the team had planned a trip to Alagalla. People plan the trip and invite us, and finally it is only me & Pasindu who do the hike while the ones who planned it are dropped off which happens most of the time. So what we say to them is, “we will be leaving in this train @ this time, if you are coming, please come on time for the train”

Fascinating Alagalla (1148m) & Dekinda Falls(30m)

Alagalla hike was a hike I was looking forward to do since last year but always the weather condition was the limiting factor. I left early morning from Yakkala and arrived at Mawanella. Guess what! as I got off the bus straight away I saw the gigantic mountain covered with a veil of mist which is a peculiar sight. I decided to do the hike from the Ihala Kotte station because that was the route that I was aware about but the easiest way would be taking a Kandy-Poththepitiya bus from Pilimathalawa.
