Roaming around Thummodara

We have visited some waterfalls at Avissawella in February 2018 but we didn’t have time to visit two more falls and the Seethawaka garden. Hence I and Nirosh planned this day trip to cover those places and it was successful since we had enough time to see them.

Randomz of Puwakpitiya and Padukka

This is another one day journey to hidden waterfalls in Colombo district.

Waterfall Hunting around a Provincial Border

I and Nirosh had another sudden ride to see some waterfalls situated at the border of Western Province and Sabaragamuwa province. Unfortunately that time was bit dried and we couldn’t see much water in few waterfalls. How ever we were able to see 5 waterfalls on that day and couldn’t reach to two more falls located in Labugama due to the time. Hence, I hope to see them and Kumari fall, Ella Uda Ella again soon after a rainy season in future.

Visit to “Kutiya” in Poththatawela

Last year we build a “Kuti” in Kukulamalapotha area & donate to Monk. Last year “Was Period” he lived in there. Soon after “Was Period” he left the “Kutiya” & went to another remote area.

Highest point (493m) and highest waterfall of Colombo district

This a short account of highest mountain and waterfalls of Colombo district.

Camping at Karagahathenna Mini WE and trekking to Sera Ella

After visiting at Karagahathenna Mini World’s end, I was dreaming to camp there to enjoy the sunrise. This is our story about camping at Karagahathenna Mini World’s end and trekking to another beauty called Sera Ella.

The Unquenchable Desire – In & Around Ilukkumbura…

I’ve been more than lucky enough to visit Knuckles from most of the above mentioned paths. However only this time I managed to visit it from Naula-Elahera-Pallegama end coz other times it’d been either Hunnasgiriya or Matale-Rattota access routes. Just be warned about the Naula-Elahera road as it’s not in good condition mainly due to the Moragahakanda Project and the many Sand Lorries which come from Manampitiya and Bakamuna areas. The road is still under construction so it’s best if you avoid it for some time. However if you have a high clearance vehicle, this can still be done but with a great difficulty and more time.

Family Trip To Riverston

Knuckles range is the all rounder in Nature sites. Why I am telling this because of its vast variation in climates, flora, fauna, geography etc…..Also there are hundreds of trails which can be categorized from easy to strenuous. Dangerous Lakagala, Tough Duwili Eli at Kalupahana, Strenuous Knuckles peaks, Moderate Manigala and easy Deanston are some examples….So you can satisfy any of your friends or loved ones at knuckles. Irrespective of their age, fitness level or other parameters ,Knuckles consist of one or more suitable trails for any of them. That’s why I called it as “THE ALL ROUNDER “

Rail Hike from Homagama to Avissawella (34.5 Km)

I took the 138 bus from Colombo at 6 a.m & reached homagama at around 7.30 a.m. Lahiru was waiting at Homagama town till I come. After having breakfast we started the journey from homagama station around 8.00 a.m. Though this was the very first rail hike in our life, we determined to do whatever it takes to make it a success.

Attractions around Reverse+turn /River+stone/Re-western/Riverston???

We haven’t been to this heavenly area for a long time and one visit long ago was on our way to Wasgamuwa and the other was a day trip when the kids were very young. Since we had only one night to spare, this was the best destination to end the school vacation in style and to recharge our batteries before going in for the third school term.

Cascades of Matale-Illukkumbura-Pallegama Road

Matale-Illukkumbura-Pallegama road (B 274) gives access to number of waterfalls and tourist destinations like Riverstone, Pitawala Pathana etc. During this three days journey we covered following waterfalls.
