Roaming at Bambarakiri and Sera Falls

This beautiful Sera Ella fall, the subject of several poems, is situated in the Dumbara Jungle that is split into two sections, both 10m in height. Kitul Canal, from the Kaudagammana Mountain, and the Hunumadala River, from the Gonamada and Deyuthu Gammmaduwa mountains, flow in unison to form the Puwakpitiya River. This later joins Thelegam River, at which point the fall is created as the water tumbles down a protruding rock face, visible from Dumbara Jungle

Visit to “Kutiya” in Poththatawela

Last year we build a “Kuti” in Kukulamalapotha area & donate to Monk. Last year “Was Period” he lived in there. Soon after “Was Period” he left the “Kutiya” & went to another remote area.

Camping at Karagahathenna Mini WE and trekking to Sera Ella

After visiting at Karagahathenna Mini World’s end, I was dreaming to camp there to enjoy the sunrise. This is our story about camping at Karagahathenna Mini World’s end and trekking to another beauty called Sera Ella.

The Unquenchable Desire – In & Around Ilukkumbura…

I’ve been more than lucky enough to visit Knuckles from most of the above mentioned paths. However only this time I managed to visit it from Naula-Elahera-Pallegama end coz other times it’d been either Hunnasgiriya or Matale-Rattota access routes. Just be warned about the Naula-Elahera road as it’s not in good condition mainly due to the Moragahakanda Project and the many Sand Lorries which come from Manampitiya and Bakamuna areas. The road is still under construction so it’s best if you avoid it for some time. However if you have a high clearance vehicle, this can still be done but with a great difficulty and more time.

75 Places in 17 Days Mega Tour – Day 13

We stay at relatives house in Kaikawala. Next day morning we went to Riverston. We took bus to Raththota & from there we took a three wheel. First we went to Riverston & next to Sera Ella.

Family Trip To Riverston

Knuckles range is the all rounder in Nature sites. Why I am telling this because of its vast variation in climates, flora, fauna, geography etc…..Also there are hundreds of trails which can be categorized from easy to strenuous. Dangerous Lakagala, Tough Duwili Eli at Kalupahana, Strenuous Knuckles peaks, Moderate Manigala and easy Deanston are some examples….So you can satisfy any of your friends or loved ones at knuckles. Irrespective of their age, fitness level or other parameters ,Knuckles consist of one or more suitable trails for any of them. That’s why I called it as “THE ALL ROUNDER “

Attractions around Reverse+turn /River+stone/Re-western/Riverston???

We haven’t been to this heavenly area for a long time and one visit long ago was on our way to Wasgamuwa and the other was a day trip when the kids were very young. Since we had only one night to spare, this was the best destination to end the school vacation in style and to recharge our batteries before going in for the third school term.

Cascades of Matale-Illukkumbura-Pallegama Road

Matale-Illukkumbura-Pallegama road (B 274) gives access to number of waterfalls and tourist destinations like Riverstone, Pitawala Pathana etc. During this three days journey we covered following waterfalls.

An unforgettable trip to untouched Thelgamuoya

We all were big fans of hiking, photography and nature. It was 8.00am when we reached food city, Matale where we bought supplies for our stay at “Wana niwahana” We bough salmon, rice, dhal, spices, cheese, biscuits and water.

An Unparalleled Travel Experience – Pitawala…

We woke up around 5am after a deep sleep and straight away went out looking for the rising sun through the mountains. The pointed shaped rock is not in fact Lakegala, but called Thunnisgala. No wonder people say that there are 7 people alike in the world and it seems it goes to the nature too, especially for mountains and waterfalls. The cloud cover was a worrying factor and sun had no chance of penetrating this thick layer. Ranjith and Wasantha arrived with coffee and it warmed our bodies. We decided to go as early as possible coz wanted to see as many things as possible. The breakfast was extra-large Rotti with Luny Miris and Chicken Curry. We ate and was on our way merrily. This area is a cluster of few villages; they are Pitawala, Atanwala, Rathkinda & Mahala Kotuwa. It’s however very hard to distinguish one from the other as there are no marked boundaries.

Riverston and seven waterfalls

As my 2nd journey of my 2012 vacation I decided to take a trip to Matale to visit few cascading beauties around the area. As many of our members has done it is no means a hike or some sought of. But just a road trip where we went on search few places where you could find the waterfalls around the area.
