Unseen Sigiriya

Sigiriya is a unbelievable creation of King Kashyapa I (478-496 AD). I want a detailed visit at Sigiriya and it’s surrounding view points.

Memories of 14 Days Trip – Day 7 – 8

We left from Anuradhapura around 8.00 a.m & reached to Jathika Namal Uyana around 9.00 a.m. We spent couple of hours there & came back to entrance around 11.30 a.m. From there we went to Ibbankatuwa Wewa. We had good bath there & we left to see Ibbankatuwa Megalith Cemetery. Now this place developed & maintain nicely.

65 Places in 15 Days Tour – Day 8 – 9

Next day morning we start our journey & we left from Kantale to Sigiriya. Around 2.00 p.m we reached to Sigiriya. We spent few hours in Sigira rock & came back around 5.00 p.m.

75 Places in 17 Days Mega Tour – Day 10 – 12

We leave from Minneriya around 5.00 p.m & our next destination was Sigiriya. We stay in our relatives place in Sigiriya. In the evening we went to Kandalama wewa & have a good time in water. Next day morning we went to Sigiriya.

En route to Lions rock

Sinhala New Year is a special time of the year and we decided to spend the holiday in a relaxing way but as usual we ended up loitering around. Early morning we reached Kurunegala and headed towards Ridi viharaya which is one of the most famous sites in this region because of its archaeology value.

A Three Day Trip to Namal Uyana, Sigiriya, Dambulla & Hot Air Ballooning

I saw this ad on Anything.lk about 60% reduction (7200/- only from the Actual fee of 18,000/-) on Hot Air Ballooning in Kandalama and as always the adventurous soul in me willingly agreed to explore

Hot Air Ballooning in Kandalama

This year annual office trip was planned to Sigiriya in November. Luckily it was the season for ballooning. When I mentioned the possibility of hot air ballooning to the trip organizers they managed to negotiate a bulk discount of 50% with one of the operator called Air Magic. It was still expensive but we thought “worth doing” at LKR 9000 per person!

A Four Day Trip to Ridi Vihara, Mihintale, Atamasthanaya, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya and Namal Uyana

Ridi Viharaya is a nice and ancient place. You will not be allowed take the photographs even without flash. But sadly you will see high voltage flash lights directed to some walls with ancient paintings.(Now those paintings are difficult see and don’t seem to have any protection)

Trip to Trincomalee and the East coast

We continued on this towards Verugal, hardly any traffic, people or shops on this route. Good idea to have plenty of drinking water, juice, fresh fruits to quench your thirst because one can drink a lot. As it’s hot and humid in this part of no mans land. Sri Lanka has the natural beauty no matter, wherever you may travel and this Mutur – Verugal route is no exception. Continuing along the way enjoy the scenery, assortment of scrubland, marshes, forest patches, rocks, Palmyra groves, reservoir, streams and the lush green vegetation with herds of feeding cattle, displaying a unique beauty of its own.

Exploring Pidurangala and beyond

Just after passing Kurunegala we turned left to reach Arankele Monastery. The road was not that smooth, but it was ok. There were places where the road was quite damaged due to heavy rains on the previous night. If not for a van or off-road vehicle, it would have been impossible to tackle those obstacles.

A Three Day Trip to Anuradapura, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya National Park,Sigiriya

We started our trip from Colombo at 4.30 am and we came puttulum at about 7 am and we visited wind mill developing site at Puttulum lagoon. After that we started our journey again through Auradapura and we had our breakfast at beautiful place. We stay at Nuwarawewa rest house. It is reasonable and good accommodation option at Anuradapura. Second day we went to Polonnaruwa through habarana. We stay at Girithale Hotel It is little bit Expensive but you couldn’t get that nature experience any were.
