Tips, Notes and Special remark
  • Early preparations would be useful. I finalized a route plan with the assistance of our friends at Lakdasun and carried route map (As I am not familiar with roads)
  • When ever you are not sure about route, stop the vehicle and ask some one. Simple (Choose three wheeler drivers to ask a road. They know most of the roads as they always on the road.. My experience)
  • As our hero member Priyanjan always say, where ever you go “start early”. Then you have more time to spend on the way and you can reach to your destination before it gets dark.
  • We tried to start as early as possible every day and returned back to bungalow early (We had to do some shopping, because we brought goods to prepare food daily)

  • Trip to Badulla, Bandarawela from Galle

We started from Galle at about 6.00 am. We prepared our breakfast and lunch in advance. Drive to Wellawaya was easy because road is very even with the new carpet. Had some snacks just passing Matara and carried along.

Weather was pleasant at that time as you can see hard to find some sun light..

Seems to be the rainy season for Hambantota. Nice green all around. Can’t imagine that is Hambantota. Paddy fields filled with water.

When we reached Buduruwagala it was raining. We tried to proceed on the gravel road leading to Buduruwagala statue. But we couldn’t make it. Villagers informed us that it is not possible to proceed with a car because of the rain and the road has damaged. We had to be satisfied visiting the Buduruwagala museum

There onwards it was raining all the way through Bandarawela. But rain couldn’t stop us getting down for some time to explore Bambaragala Ella. (As Priyanjan says people used to call it Rawana ella… I used the correct name)

Rain couldn’t stop us from exploring the Bambaragala Ell

From ella onwards to Kumbalwela road was under construction. With heavy rain it was a really tough job for them to proceed. But the weather couldn’t stop the road work! They are doing a remarkable job. When they finish the rest of the road it will be an easy drive to Bandarawela on this road. (Who ever responsible for this should receive the credit)
