  • Trip to Yala National Park and Bundala

We planned this trip to visit Yala and Bundala National Parks. On our way back home we also visited Hummanaya Blow Hole.

Day 1

We started our journey at about 9.30 pm by taking a Kataragama bus from Colombo. Chamika, Miniruwan, Aravinda and Supun joined with me. We got off the bus from Tissa at about 4.30 am. Lokayya (safari jeep) came to pick us from there to the rest house. After a short breakfast we headed towards the Yala entrance. We entered the park at about 6.00 am. Four or five other jeeps also entered the park with us

Lokayya our jeep driver was a very experienced parson in the park. He was very urge to show us various kinds of animals, he didn’t hesitate to reverse the jeep several times to show us a rare animal or a bird.

We came back to the rest house for the lunch and headed to Bundala National Park after a short break. Bundala is a bird paradise, and there were also a large number of crocodiles. We entered the park at about 3.00 pm. We were the only group in the park at that time, may be because it is not very popular compared to Yala. But the sceneries were very spectacular and it was also an unforgettable experience. I recommend every one come to Yala should also visit Bundala.

We headed back home next day morning after an unforgettable journey. We also visited Hummanaya blow hole on our way back to home. Special thanks to Lokayya for his invaluable support throughout the journey.
